VBS 2004 was such a great experience! Our theme for this year was "His Last Week." We focused on four main stories from the last week of the life of Christ. We taught the kids about Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper with the disciples, the betrayal and crucifixion of Christ, and the glorious resurrection of our Savior.

This was the 2nd year we have had a Marketplace VBS. During the marketplace time each day, kids learned how to make wooden crosses, measuring sticks, pottery, bread, candy, bracelets, rope, and musical instruments. They learned about spices, writing, Hebrew, and they even got to tour a synagogue first hand. The scribe let each kid practice writing in Hebrew on clay tablets. There were so many things our kids learned during our week of VBS.
We were blessed with record numbers in 2004. We had over 200 kids each day. We had 203 on Monday, 230 on Tuesday, 239 on Wednesday, and 232 on Thursday. We also had approximately 115 teen and adult workers in the various shops, plays and family groups each day bringing our daily total near 350 people each day. What a great way to spend a week with people of all ages.

We closed VBS with a big ceremony in the Marketplace on Thursday evening. We invited all of our kids and their parents and grandparents for a first century style feast. We had lamb meat and all kinds of breads and fruits. Over 300 people came together to see what their children and grandchildren had experienced all week long.
We are thankful to provide an event like VBS that involves so many people and that blesses so many children. Special thanks to Dena Jenkins, Carolyn Harrell, and all of the volunteers that helped make VBS 2004 possible. It was a great experience for everyone involved. We look forward to next year!
