This past weekend, February 4th - 6th, was the 15th year for West-Ark to participate in Winter Retreat. We helped start the retreat in 1991 and it has grown to be one of our best spiritual events of each year.
The theme for this year was "Get Real" and we focused on passages from I Corinthians and I John that warn us about the "Reality" the world has to offer us. We compared the world's reality with the reality that Jesus has to offer us.
There were groups present from Fort Smith, Farmington, Rogers, and Joplin, MO. The highlight of the weekend was early Sunday morning. After a weekend that had focused us on "true reality" and "getting real" with our spiritual relationships, we worshipped and communed together until 2 a.m.
I am thankful for the opportunity to spend a weekend with 100 area teens and adults who aren't afraid to "get real" about their faith. I pray that lives will continue to be changed because of the classes, devotionals, and worship we experienced together.
Praise God for Cody Stafford, a teen from West-Ark, who made the decision to be baptized into Christ as a result of coming face to face with God over the weekend!
